Armoured Vehicle Nigam Limited Institute of Learning Avadi is one of the 3 training institutes functioning under AVNL from 01-10-2021. Armoured Vehicle Nigam Limited Institute of Learning Avadi was originally established in 1996 as Regional Training Institute for imparting training to Group B & C officials of Ordnance Factories and their Allied Establishments. RTI was renamed as Ordnance Factories Institute of Learning in the year 2005.
AVNL IOL Avadi is located in HVF Estate. It is about 25 KMs from Chennai Central Suburban Railway Station.
AVNL IOL is 3 KMs from Avadi Railway Station and Bus Stand. AVNL IOL hostel, where the outstation participants are to report first is about 1 KM from Avadi Railway Station and Bus Stand.
Preamble
Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited Insitute of Learning Avadi (formerly known as Regional Training Institute) Avadi is one among the 8 institutes established by Ordnance Factory Board, Kolkata (Govt of India, Ministry of Defence, Department of Defence Production) in the year 1996 for catering to the needs of training for Gr B and Gr C officers & staff employed in six Ordnance Factories in the Southern region of India and their allied establishments. These factories are Heavy Vehicles Factory, Avadi, Engine Factory, Avadi, Ordnance Clothing Factory, Avadi, Ordnance Factory, Tiruchirapalli, High Energy Profile Factory, Tiruchirapalli & Cordite Factory, Aruvankadu (Near Ooty).
There are two air conditioned class rooms, a library, auditorium, conference room and a LAN room with 35 nodes in AVNL IOL Avadi. All the class rooms are provided with various audio visual aids for training like LCD Projectors etc.
All the class rooms are equipped with high speed internet connection.
The hostel at AVNL IOL Avadi can accommodate 62 participants. Good catering arrangements are in place at a reasonable cost.
The Library of AVNL IOL Avadi is equipped with books on diverse topics such as management, computer, engineering, production, HR, Govt. rules and regulations etc., by authors of repute in India and abroad. News papers in English, Hindi and Tamil are made available for the benefit of the participants.
A demonstration room for assembling and disassembling of IGB, Engine, Compressor is available.
A cut cum working model room of T72 and T90 battle tanks is available where in major assemblies like Engine,IGB, Side Gear Box, Compressor, Distribution Mechanism, Air Compressor etc.,

AVNL IOL Avadi is headed by the General Manager in Senior Administrative Grade. There are 8 group B Gazetted Officers, 1 Non Gazetted Officer. The faculty members of AVNL IOL Avadi are highly experienced in their field. The courses conducted by AVNL IOL Avadi and the training capabilities of faculty members have come in for all round appreciation by participants of various training programs.
