T90 Bhishma
Tank Bhishma (T-90) is a tracked combat vehicle with powerful armament, reliable Armour protection and high manoeuverability. The tank is provided with high-accuracy sighting systems as well as with an automatic loader ensuring high practicable rate of gun fire.The smoke grenades launching system is designed for remote setting of smoke screen with grenades. The basic components of tank are the hull, turret, weapons and fire control system, automatic loader, power plant, power train, tracks and suspension, electric equipment and communication facilities, and special equipment have underwater stream-crossing, CBR protection system, smoke-generating equipment, fire-fighting equipment, entrenching equipment, built-in ERA.
The T-90 main battle tank (MBT) is an advanced version of the T-series of tanks, offering increased firepower, mobility and protection. It is manufactured by HVF, an original equipment manufacturer, in Chennai. In February 2001, the Indian Army signed a contract for 310 T-90tanks; 124 were completed in Russia, and the rest were delivered in ‘knocked down’ form for final assembly in India. It’s armament includes one 125mm 2A46M smooth bore gun that is stabilised in two axes and fitted with a thermal sleeve.
